The KTM Strider was recently given a great review in Transworld Motocross magazine!
“We have only one thing to say about the Strider bikes: why didn’t we think of that? These are amazing starter bikes for the little BMXer/MXer in your life. They promote balance and the concept of bike riding without those sissy training wheels. Add in the KTM branding, and it only reinforces the moto mind.” ~ Transworld Motocross (The Things You Need)

That sounds about right to us! Let us know if you see Striders anywhere else in the press and keep sharing your photos, videos and stories with us and the other Strider fans on facebook.

This last Summer Ryan, Strider founder and chief enthusiast, ran across a 1974 Yamaha TY80 for sale at Vintage Motorcycle Days in the swap meet area.
To most people this looks like a cool little dirt bike that has seen better days. To Ryan it looks like much more! This is the same as his very first dirt bike when he was a boy of 5 1/2. His father Joe was owner of a Yamaha dealership in Indiana, which spurred Ryan’s love for all things two-wheeled.
It was very tempting for Ryan to purchase this bike for nostalgia’s sake but he couldn’t figure
out how to get it into his carry-on bag for the flight home!

Ohhhh, man I wish I could go back in time.

Last July Strider announced our partnership with the NBL (National Bicycle League) as the official PREbike of the Bicycle Motocross Racing network. Over the Summer there were several races held at NBL races. With the cold weather they’ve taken it indoors with a Strider race on each day of their flagship “Christmastime Races” (The President’s Cup and The Christmas Classic).

Sweet Mohawk!
These photos are from the races on the first day of the Christmas Classic. There was a great crowd and the kids had a lot of fun being in the spotlight.

I Vow To Try My Hardest, But Most Of All To Have Fun!
The crowd loved it and they were cheering on all their local toddlers to make it across the finish line first! Keep watching this great partnership which is getting kids on bikes earlier all across the country.
Ready…Set…GO!!!!

Ryan has been working hard all year. He has also been behaving this year, if the package that arrived at Strider HQ is any indication of his lack of naughtiness. Santa knew that he wouldn’t be able to fit the amazing ‘KTM 200 XC-W‘ down the chimney so he just had a delivery truck drop it by.

Ryan has either been very good this year, or he figured Santa might be too busy to notice the new KTM he bought himself right before Christmas.
The best thing about this amazing motorcycle is that it will match the new KTM Striders that have been tearing up the trails and dirt parks all over the globe!

…of a Strider racer!
Found some cool photos of Nick this week, he is a Strider racer/rider from Washington State. This past summer he rode in the kids race at ‘Bavarian Bike and Brew‘ in Leavenworth, Washington. His Dad had this to say about the start to his illustrious racing career, “He loved it! He even did 3 extra laps past the cheering crowd in the Beer garden. Gotta love fans!”

He started off the day with a nutritious breakfast with cow and Bert.

A little late morning Pre-ride with Mom.

Quick nap before the big race!

Staring down opponents as he gets ready to start.
It seems like more and more racing venues are adding fun events for the Strider crowd. Make sure to find one in your local area, they are a great way for your kids to have fun and connect with riding buddies for the rest of the year. Our home base of the Black Hills has Winter and Summer fun, both with festive atmosphere!

Any Strider fans that ride motorcycles or have watched the enormously popular ‘On Any Sunday‘ movie know of the legendary Malcolm Smith!

Here’s a classic view of Smith in the Trailer for ‘On Any Sunday’ (at 51 seconds in)
Malcolm was the Vintage Motorcycle Days Grand Marshall this year. This is one of the great events put on by the American Motorcycle Association each year. Ryan, the inventor and head Strider enthusiast, attended the event and had a chance to visit with Malcolm and even get a few Striders autographed! We’re donating these bikes and auctioning them off with all the proceeds going to support the Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundation which funds an orphanage in Mexico. Here’s your chance to get your little one riding, own a very unique Strider with a fun back story, and help out some little kids in Mexico who’ve had a really tough start in life. A perfect way to celebrate the holidays… bid generously, it’s for a great cause. Click here for the Ebay auction sites: Red Strider and Yellow Strider!

KTM Strider PREbikes have just hit the U.S. shoreline and are enroute to our distribution center! The bikes will be up on our webstore and ready for purchase at high noon on Wednesday, November 3rd. Mark your calendar… these bikes are sure to go fast (pun intended!).

MURRIETA, CA (October 20, 2010) — KTM North America, Inc. and Strider Sports International are excited to announce a licensing agreement for the introduction of the KTM Strider PREbike™. The KTM Strider PREbike™ is a revolutionary pedal-free bike that enables toddlers as young as 18 months to learn how to ride and balance on two wheels… years earlier than if they used the conventional tricycle or training wheel method. Most important, Strider™ teaches the skills needed to safely and easily transition to riding both a pedal bike and a Sportminicycle, making the first experience on each much more successful and positive.

Inventor’s youngest son getting started at less than 2 years old.

Inventor and both sons enjoying their favorite pastime on their KTM's!

Strider PREbikes had a great opportunity to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Research. The recent Anaheim 3 Monster Energy Supercross race in California was awash in PINK as industry folks helped to generate money for this worthy cause.

anaheim supercross pit party
The fundraising effort was spearheaded by Shasta Johnson (the wife of a high school buddy of mine). She has experienced this terrible disease like few others… she lost her 29 years old sister to it and was also diagnosed herself. She battled and won… a cancer survivor! She now devotes significant effort to education and fund-raising. Visit her website at
www.teamshasta.org. Here are photos from the Pit Party outside the arena… notice the Pink Strider PREbikes hanging from the tents.
Visit Ebay and bid to win one of these special bikes autographed by Supercross Champion, Chad Reed … all funds go toward the cause. For more photos, videos, and information about this Supercross event, visit
