Want to learn how to ride? Watch your little brother!

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Most of the time we hear from parents who buy a Strider so that their little ones can be more like their bigger siblings!  This review from Jese had the surprising bonus of inspiring the 9 year old brother to finally be “cruising down the road after years of stress and crying”!

“First off I was hesitant before buying this bike. Mostly because of the price. I feel $99 is too much for a toddler’s bike. I hemmed and hawed weighing my options. My wild 2 year old boy was turning the big 3 so I bit the bullet and bought it. He loves his bike, I mean LOVES it! Its small enough to easily toss in the trunk of our car and bring to his brothers little league games, family visits, anywhere. He rides it every day. Our driveway is a gradual hill, he likes to start at the top and cruise down. Imagine my surprise after only owning it 2 weeks he was picking his feet off the ground and balancing. I showed everyone who happened to walk by that day, yes I was a crazy mother but very proud. Is it worth $99, if I take how much he uses it, how much it has taught him and just his love for the bike, I’d say absolutely! Its fantastic.

On a side note, our 9 year old son had a lot of anxiety riding a bike and couldn’t figure out the balancing part. The strider bike gave me the idea to take the pedals off of his bike. I said watch how your little brother does it and no joke in a half an hour we had the pedals back on our 9 year old’s bike and he was cruising down the road after years of stress and crying. I’m sure the balance gave him the confidence to get on and go. Thanks Strider.

Travis: A Man of Few Words

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

I know that we tell you guys all the time that we love getting reviews, testimonials, photos and videos from our fans.  Facebook is one great way to keep in touch allowing us to combine all of the before-mentioned things we love in one place.

The testimonials that we get are especially great.  They allow us to know what we’re doing right and how we can improve and are usually very informative.  We always like hearing stories about how your children are progressing.

Ryan, our Strider founder and chief enthusiast, just ran across an old testimonial that we thought should be hightlighted.  I’ll let it speak for itself:

“You Strider guys are awesome!” – Travis

Keep it coming!

Packing For Vacation

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Life has been in a huge state of adjustment lately.  It is especially daunting to think about packing for our first plane ride together as a family of four.  Do we bring the stroller?  Will the two year old even sit in it?  How much will my back hurt from carrying a chunky 2 1/2 month old in a baby bjorn all over Washington D.C.?

Then I came up with the perfect solution (actually I just remembered I’ve already seen it elsewhere)!  I’ve seen pictures of JoJo riding his Strider in cool places all over the world.  Then I remembered Adrian (Team Strider Europe!) and his Mom’s cool way of transporting his Strider when his legs get tired. (See Picture below)

Travel For Four? No Problem.

So, now the question is…will I be able to keep up with the two year old?  We’d love to hear about Strider time on your family vacations or how you’ve taken it to unique places.  Post photos, videos and stories to our facebook page…We Love To Hear From You!

Nashville Doesn’t Get Much Snow

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

At least a couple inches doesn’t seem like much to us.  We, here at Strider have a snow prototype that we’ve talked about previously.  When it snows in Nashville they are quick to adapt!  We ran across this cool modification on the Nashville Bicycle Lounge Facebook page.  Rather than build skis they added some fatter tires to help their little ones stay on top of the white stuff.

We love to see what you guys do with your Strider!  Whether its adding bells, streamers, horns or some sweet fat snow tires.  Keep It Up, and make sure to post photos and stories of the results on our Facebook page.

Strider Kids Race At NBL Events

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Last July Strider announced our partnership with the NBL (National Bicycle League) as the official PREbike of the Bicycle Motocross Racing network.  Over the Summer there were several races held at NBL races.  With the cold weather they’ve taken it indoors with a Strider race on each day of their flagship “Christmastime Races” (The President’s Cup and The Christmas Classic).

Sweet Mohawk!

These photos are from the races on the first day of the Christmas Classic.  There was a great crowd and the kids had a lot of fun being in the spotlight.

I Vow To Try My Hardest, But Most Of All To Have Fun!

The crowd loved it and they were cheering on all their local toddlers to make it across the finish line first!  Keep watching this great partnership which is getting kids on bikes earlier all across the country.

Ready…Set…GO!!!!

And Now Some Words From Dan…

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Dan Clements is a buddy of mine who has two boys, his oldest (Ollie)  is three.  Most of the time Ollie can be found on his Strider or in a bike trailer behind Dan.  When he prays before bed at night he thanks God for his Strider.  He also always reminds the big guy that he could supply him with more if he felt so inclined.

This last March I went to Moab, Utah with him and a couple other guys for a week of Mountain Biking…it was awesome.  Like Ollie developing his balancing skills on his Strider, Dan recently wrote about his “balance skills” for his work newsletter.  I thought this would be a great reminder for Strider parents since most of us get so busy.  Remember to start “diving deep into the imagination of a two-year-old.”

Puddles ARE Fun!

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

We’re getting snowed on today, but many other areas of the country are getting rain.  Remember when you were young and you loved to splash in puddles?  Striders are great for having fun in puddles too.  You get the stamping of feet with the bonus spray of water off the tires!

And remember all of you sitting inside with snow on the ground…it will melt eventually and when it does puddles will abound!
