There Is Still Snow In Japan!

April 30th, 2012

It has been an unusually warm winter in StriderVille! When the STRIDER Ski Attachments arrived we barely even had any slush to test them out, but that was enough for the first ever STRIDER Snow Cup!

Luckily they still had snow when the first shipment arrived in Japan! This great video from the first Strider Snow Cup in Japan makes us really excited for the snow to start flying next Winter. Stride On!

Results Are In From The Winter Nationals!

April 24th, 2012

It was a hot time in Phoenix this last weekend. If you were there hopefully you had a lot of sunscreen slathered on and a cool spot to relax during your down time. Even with temperatures peaking at just over 100 degrees on Saturday there was a good turn out of STRIDER and BMX racers. The Cajun Nationals this weekend (4/27-4/29) in Monroe, LA will be indoors so the heat shouldn’t play as much of a role.

Photos courtesy of MJT Designs! To purchase high res copies of your child racing please contact Jasen@mjtdesigns.com

Check out the results and some photos, then head over to Strider Life to share your photos, stories and video from the Winter Nationals.

Drum Roll Please…Here Are The Top Two!

April 22nd, 2012

Yesterday we shared the fifth, fourth and third top picks…go check it out now if you missed it. Hopefully our top two favorite movie scenes with bikes don’t disappoint!

#2. “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” (1969) – This movie is set at the dawn of the popularization of the chain driven bicycle. The scene below is a trifecta of fun: 1. Paul Newman, 2. Hilarious stunt riding, and 3. Great Song. Watch for the bull to chase them after breaking through the fence! This is a clip, you may want to kick the STRIDER Riders our of the room if you’re watching the entire movie.

Finally…

#1. “E.T. : The Extra-Terrestrial” (1982) – E.T. made us laugh, made us cry and gave us some iconic scenes…this being one of them. A meek boy (Elliott) and his ailing alien friend escape from the authorities to help him return to his home planet. It is funny how dated (visually) some movies feel while retaining a great story with lessons that kids can still pick up on.  E.T is another must see for the family.

Happy STRIDERday: 5, 4, 3 Movie Edition

April 21st, 2012

There are a lot of good movies about bikes: Quicksilver, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure and Breaking Away just to name a few. I’m sure if you were to ask most bike riders if they have a favorite the answers would be pretty diverse.

Take it one step further and get somebody to name their favorite scenes and you’d get an even more diverse selection. Today and tomorrow we’ll share our top 5 favorite scenes featuring bikes from movies.

Let us know how terribly wrong we are if you disagree…but wait until tomorrow when we reveal our top 2 picks!

Happy STRIDERday

#5. “Napoleon Dynamite” (2004) – This movie seems just plain weird the first time you watch it. All following viewings are funnier and funnier. It may be tailored for a teenage crowd, but with no swearing and a PG rating these quirky characters would surely get the whole family laughing. We guarantee if you watch it more than once you’ll slip in quotes in everyday conversation.

YouTube Preview Image

#4. “Rad” (1986) – Envision ‘Karate Kid’ on a BMX bike and add slow motion bmx bike dancing…need we say more? We watched this so many times growing up the VHS tape snapped from wearing thin. VHS, What’s that? It’s like a big rectangular DVD that you had to rewind. If you haven’t seen this movie yet and you have a Strider Cup racer in the house you definitely need to check it out!

YouTube Preview Image

#3. “The Great Muppet Caper” (1981) - This is a family favorite in our house and we still can’t figure out how they shot this scene!? Great romantic start with Kermit and Miss Piggy followed by a group ride with the entire cast. The only negative is the kids with training wheels near the end. This would be a fun scene to recreate with a pack of STRIDER riders. If you haven’t watched this with your kids yet add it to the rainy day movie list!

And Now…Some Cool Reviews!

April 20th, 2012

We love hearing from all of our STRIDER family and with an ever increasing number of ways to do that (Facebook, Twitter, Strider Life, Our Website) we are receiving a lot of testimonials. The two I’m sharing today came through the administrative function on our website and were just too good not to share!

Stride On…keep those STRIDER success stories and photos coming in!

First

“We have a 19month old son. We first saw these bikes at my nephews BMX races in the Black Hills of South Dakota. My wife and I were floored when we watched 4 and 5 year olds fly around the BMX track. It was about a week ago that he started showing interest in wanting a bike so we went to Scheels (a local sports store) and purchased one for $90. That was on Sunday, today is Tuesday. He rode around Scheels and seemed to enjoy it. He went quite slow and wanted me behind him…today was a different story. Tonight he was trying to run with it. Totally amazing! I can’t wait for him to learn how to “glide”. I am confident that by 2yo he will be well on his way! Awesome product. Also, my 6yo niece who has been on training wheels for two years spent a half hour on it playing and learning to balance… half hour later she was riding a bike without training wheels!”       ~Robert B.

Secondly

“Wow! From the moment our son saw the YouTube videos to the moment he sat on his new Strider at Roscoe Village Bikes he was mesmerized. Not only did he get right on with a toss of the leg over the seat, but he just started walking along and trying to coast on the Strider as if both were intuitive. He was thrilled! Each time he tipped or had the bike fall, he was able to easily lift the bike, get himself back on, and keep going. We literally had to lock the bike up so he could go to bed. What an amazing bike! We are more than satisfied, impressed, and loyal to this great product. Our 2 year old is so happy!”          ~Erik M.

Lastly

And finally a one word review from a new YouTube Video.

“WooHoo!”     ~williama3
