At the age of seven “Cowboy” Kenny Bartram (#690) started his career in motorcycles. After turning professional at the age of fifteen his destiny was clear. Since that fateful day he has become the winning-est freestyle (10 X-game medals) motocross rider in the world!

Kenny was inspired by his uncle…we have a feeling that his son, Brooks Bartram, will have all the inspiration he’ll ever need! For his 4th birthday his Dad bought him a KTM STRIDER to match his own KTM Motocross bike.

After a little experimentation Brooks is already hitting ramps, albeit a bit smaller than the ones his Dad is jumping off of:

Sometimes we feel sorry for the older kids who were taught to ride a bike “the old way”. Putting them on a bike and watching repeated falls is one way to do it, but Striders are a definite improvement! Here is a great review from just such a parent:

“What a wonderful bike! We bought this for our 4 year old’s birthday. After 2 weeks of riding it he and his older brother were ready to try their 2 wheelers without training wheels. Wish I would have bought this bike years ago for our older son and would have saved so many skinned knees and days of trying to learn how to ride his bike. Easy to ride and a wonderful way to gain balance and confidence! My younger son is still riding this bike daily along with his pedal bike. Can’t say enough good things, skip the training wheels and buy a Strider!”

Have a Great weekend and go check out www.StriderLife.com for more great reviews, photos, video, and discussions on how Striders are changing the way kids learn to balance and ride a bike!

Most of the time we hear from parents who buy a Strider so that their little ones can be more like their bigger siblings! This review from Jese had the surprising bonus of inspiring the 9 year old brother to finally be “cruising down the road after years of stress and crying”!

“First off I was hesitant before buying this bike. Mostly because of the price. I feel $99 is too much for a toddler’s bike. I hemmed and hawed weighing my options. My wild 2 year old boy was turning the big 3 so I bit the bullet and bought it. He loves his bike, I mean LOVES it! Its small enough to easily toss in the trunk of our car and bring to his brothers little league games, family visits, anywhere. He rides it every day. Our driveway is a gradual hill, he likes to start at the top and cruise down. Imagine my surprise after only owning it 2 weeks he was picking his feet off the ground and balancing. I showed everyone who happened to walk by that day, yes I was a crazy mother but very proud. Is it worth $99, if I take how much he uses it, how much it has taught him and just his love for the bike, I’d say absolutely! Its fantastic.

On a side note, our 9 year old son had a lot of anxiety riding a bike and couldn’t figure out the balancing part. The strider bike gave me the idea to take the pedals off of his bike. I said watch how your little brother does it and no joke in a half an hour we had the pedals back on our 9 year old’s bike and he was cruising down the road after years of stress and crying. I’m sure the balance gave him the confidence to get on and go. Thanks Strider.”

Q: What is cuter than a child on a Strider? A: Twins riding their Striders!

We found this great review from a Mother of twins. Have you had similar experiences to Dolly?

“I bought two strider balance bikes for my boy/girl twins for their birthday. They loved them and it was great that they were able to hop right on and use them right away. It was nice that there was no frustration on getting them to work like they have had in the past with their tricycle. We had their birthday party at a park and the twins were able to ride their bikes all over the playground and park. They have progressed just like the toddlers in the online videos and within a week were balancing. I got the pink and green bikes and both are adorable. I decided to go with the Strider balance bike because it has one of the lowest seat settings.” ~Dolly

“We have a crazy 27 month old that has been riding your bike for about 1 month. I thought I would send a video of him. We live in the mountains of Colorado in a Ski Resort town and this child is literally all over the side walks, trails and dirt paths. Please let us know if we should be doing something to stop him. He goes on curbs and off. He isn’t even potty trained and is riding this bike up trails that I’m scared to go down. We love the bike and “Zabel” is getting a lot of attention on it.” - Jill (Zabel’s Mom)

Make sure to keep his helmet on! It looks like in a few years when he’s on a pedal bike you won’t have any chance of keeping up with him on the street or mountain bike trails!

We just wanted to highlight a couple great reviews today that talk about their children’s success with and the transition to a pedal bike.

“What a great concept. The thing works, is all I can say. We got a Strider prebike last year (when my son was just turning 3). We just got him a regular bike this year and he transitioned easily – I mean like in 10 minutes easily – to riding without training wheels. Our Strider seemed solidly constructed and was easy to put together. I would highly recommend this product!” ~LittleImp

“I bought this for my 4 year old daughter. She was balancing and cruising on it in 2 days. The third day she tried a pedal bike and was good to go. No training wheels!!!! Now this bike is just waiting until my next daughter is ready to ride.” ~Corey

Here’s a review from Stephanie. We really like this review because it hits about every key point in a child’s learning to ride.

“I just bought this bike for my 3 year old daughter (in pink of course). I found out about this bike from a friend who ordered them for her then 3 year old. At first I scoffed at the idea that a bike with no pedals and no training wheels would teach a little kid how to ride a bike. Well when her daughter was riding a pedal bike without training wheels I began to change my tune. Then, a year later her now 2 year old son was using the balance bike and going all over the place. I bet, had she let him, he would of been riding a regular pedal bike without training wheels. My daughter is now riding it all over our house, and I can’t wait to get her outside with it.

It teaches her several things, one that bikes tip over and this is being learned while they are only inches off the ground vs being higher up. It also teaches them balance on the bike itself, and this is done slowly without them even knowing it.

After seeing this bike in action I now feel why would you ever teach a child to ride a bike with training wheels. It doesn’t teach them the most important lesson in learning to ride a bike and thats BALANCE.” ~Stephanie Weaver

Gabe’s Mom recently said us a review and a link to her blog that we found really interesting. Not only are there some great photos, but she shares a story of falling down and getting back up.

“I just wanted to thank you guys for such an amazing bike! My son has had his Strider for over a year now and there still isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t insist it is by his side! He now rides at our local BMX track and loves it!” ~Deanna (Gabe’s Mom)

By the end of the day Gabe was able to conquer his fears…and the hill. Go Find a bmx track near you….it may just spark a passion for riding that your child will carry through their whole life!

Spandex or no, Striders are helping kids all over the world hone their balance skills. Bicycling gets the review right on and so do the reviewers that chimed in.
