Striders on Strollers…This is Easy!
Thursday, July 29th, 2010Strider PREbikes: Kissable
Thursday, July 29th, 2010We got this note and photo from one of our dealers:
Remember that bike I had to send to Hawaii priority mail (cause you guys won’t drive to the post office for me to do parcel post – lol !!) well he got it early and the grandma sent me this cute but fuzzy picture of him kissing the bike saying he loves it so much!. He is also the one that I talked out of getting the mini glider – which was good as he would have been much too little. He is turning 2 in about a week. Thought I’d send it to you.

How to Ride a Strider PREbike
Monday, July 26th, 2010This is John’s son. John heads up our International sales. His son is 2 ½ and really tearing around. This is a great video shot in a nature park in Cleveland, OH, all off-road. It shows JoJo going over logs, leaves, tree roots, etc. and having a good time. Also shows Mom running to keep up! And really demonstrates the striding, foot braking, striding with one leg on the footrests, etc.
We think JoJo looks like Luke Skywalker riding his speeder through the forests of Endor.
Product Review on The Old Schoolhouse site
Sunday, July 25th, 2010We were reviewed by Karen Yuen from The Old Schoolhouse Magazine for homeschool families. Here’s an excerpt:
the Strider Running Bike offers some wonderful advantages. First of all, it’s very small; so very young children can start learning long before they would comfortably fit on even the smallest standard bikes. Also, the bike is so lightweight that young toddlers really don’t need much strength to push themselves along. Learning to balance is really the key activity. I also like the “stiffer” steering that comes standard with the bike. This makes is easier to handle. But as the bike is ridden more, the steering loosens up. Very ingenious!

Best Strider PREbike Video? You decide.
Sunday, July 18th, 2010One of the best Strider PREbike videos ever. The song is catchy…except it drops a few F-bombs at the very end (in case you’re watching with your kids). It’s from Japan, so perhaps they didn’t understand the lyric?
The video shows some great technique, including braking by dragging feet. We’ve found that most kids this young don’t have the strength yet to operate mechanical foot or hand brakes. That’s why Striders don’t ship with brakes. The optional foot-brake is really useful when your kids are a little bigger and want to start practicing skids. But, for just plain stopping power, nothing beats the good ol’ Fred Flintstone method!
The other great thing about this video is you can use some of the points of reference (railings, people walking, etc) to get a feel of JUST HOW SMALL THESE BIKES ARE!
UPDATE: I just want to repeat…the song on this video has the F-WORD several times at the end.
Strider Cup Japan
Friday, July 16th, 2010The 4TH STRIDER CUP with the support of HOTWHEELS & MEDICOM TOYS was held
at Aqua Arena in Tokyo from July 3 -4 http://www.strider.jp/news/index100601.html (here’s an English translation from Google.)
STRIDER KIDS CLASS (total of 160 attendants/kids) including the beginner Class for a
total of 90. The actual breakdown of this race was divided in the following category:
Age 2 class
Age 3 class
Age 4-5 class
As you can see from some of these fun videos, the event was a huge success.
The organizers asked us if in the future, guest riders from the US can participate in the race in Japan and vice versa. Any ideas? Let’s make it happen!
Learned to ride Before 3rd Birthday – No Training Wheels!
Thursday, July 15th, 2010Annette Sweigart sent us this comment:
“I never write reviews but I couldn’t resist this one. I set out less than two months ago to buy my 2 1/2 year old son a bike (with training wheels). I discovered the Strider online and ordered it thinking that with the money back guarantee, we had nothing to lose. He’s been riding it for the last 6 weeks, not even every day. Three days ago we put him on a two wheel bike, no training wheels! Check out the video taken yesterday on his third day riding a “big boy bike”. Trey will be 2 years, 9 months old tomorrow. And he’s riding a bike with no training wheels! Amazing–thank you!”
