A happy Strider rider and comments from his mom

July 23, 2008

HI all,I just wanted to thank you for these bikes!!! My almost three year old son has super short legs and we hadn’t been able to find him any trike or bike that he could peddle….until now!  I was really hesitant about your bike, but I have to say that after about two months both kids are having so much fun on their Striders and have gained so much confidence in themselves.  It has been amazing to watch. Everywhere we go people ask…”Where did you get that bike?” Thanks for a great product!  We love everything about these bikes (especially the no pump tires)! Cheryl

Tanner and his buddy on their Striders

July 22, 2008

kids on their Strider run bikes

We figured we would share a few photos of our son, Tanner (green
bike) and his friend (both 2 1/2) enjoying a little single track.
http://picasaweb.google.com/surya612/BoysRidingTheirStridersWe have
really enjoyed the bike, and several of our friends in town have joined
in, so there is now a small group of 2 year olds out having a blast. We
get so many inquiries and fun comments when people see the kids out on
their Striders.  We highly recommend it to anyone who asks us about
it! Thanks.

Trinity - the proud Strider rider

July 18, 2008
We received this note from Trinity’s mom, “Thanks Ryan! We had friends over last night for dinner and they will be ordering a Strider Bike from your Website soon for their 4-year old. Their daugther has a trike now and we told them about the Strider Bike and showed it to them. Trinity is showing more interest in bikes and riding her Strider Bike outside now.”

Strider bike at CU Boulder Short Track Race
Just for fun I’ve attached a photo of all of us including a friend Ambrose (4 years old) who now rides a real two-wheeler after getting a Strider Bike for Christmas. This picture is taken after the CU Boulder Short Track Race last Wednesday. Hunter and Dylan raced in their first junior mountain biking race. Dylan did 2 laps and Hunter 5 laps. It is all about fun at this age.”

Not the intended ‘target’ Strider rider

This just in from the blog over at www.HowToAvoideTheBummerLife.com.

strider bike race

The post says, “Yesterday was the annual Bastille Day Block Party at Barbette here in Mpls. Every year our BMX team does a demo there, but this year we decided to try something new that was an equal crowd pleaser. Adults racing on Strider children’s bikes. Brilliant.”

Collin on Strider bike

This little boy has a prosthetic leg… his parents didn’t figure ‘riding a bike’ was in the cards for him but the Strider running bike is opening up opportunities for him… just 3 years old. His mom says, “He mostly walks with it but is getting better on it. It’s so fun to see him feel like a big boy on his bike.Thank you.

The Portland Strider boys

June 25, 2008
We just received this message from a West Coast Strider dad. Thanks Curt!

3 boys on Strider Balance Bikes

Ready Set Go!!!
As you can see from the photo our neighborhood in Portland is serious Strider country. Right to left is Charlie (2 yr. 9 mo.), Emmet (2 yr. 2 mo.) and Jackson (2 yr. 3 mo.)
These boys can really go, not only zip along on the sidewalk, and riding on the grass but messing around on curbs and other obstacles. These are things not easily done on a traditional bike with training wheels. The Strider is a great design and value, I highly recommend this bike.

Strider Running Bikes at the Fat Tire Festival 2008

June 6, 2008

Kids have Strider fun at the Fat Tire Festival in Rapid City, South Dakota in May 2008.

I know, I know… somebody is going be upset because they aren’t wearing helmets. 90% of the time my son has his helmet on but he lost his head when the cute little girl in the red dress and flip-flops showed up. She obviously wasn’t planning on testing bikes, just happened to stop in at the free festival and ended up on a Strider running bike and had a great time… dress, flip-flops and all!

We had some fun little obstacles for the kids to ride on as well. Kids really like the obstacles… it keeps their mind much more involved. We’ve found that kids who are limited to just the flat, straight sidewalk soon get bored and park the bike in search of faster mental input… such as TV and video games. I think this is why the Strider running bikes are going over so well. They are so light and easy to maneuver that kids feel confident in trying to ride obstacles… this keeps kids’ minds engaged much more. It allows them to express creativity… ‘mom, watch this’… and offers them challenge, the opposite of boredom. Stride on.

Strider donates bikes to Rapid City Head Start program

May 30, 2008

Local television station covers the Strider Sports International, Inc. donation of 6 Strider(tm) running bikes to the local Head Start program.

I thoughts I’d mention this… it was a pretty interesting side note that sums up what children often deal with that we as parents/adults have missed for years. While at the Head Start facility, I noticed that they had trikes for the ‘bigger’ kids 5-7 years old… which seemed odd to me since most kids are capable of riding a bike by this time. Well after looking at one of the trikes it became obvious why you had to be ‘bigger’. These are some industrial trikes! I bet they weighed more than my 27-speed, fully suspended mountain bike. Not only would you have to have an 18″ inseam to reach the pedals on these things but you’d need the legs of a power lifter to propel it! After the news station shot the piece on the Strider donation, the other kids came out for recess. The bigger kids got on some of the trikes and they were making their way down the sidewalk (on the sidewalk only of course) and here’d come a kid half the age on a Strider running bike, whip out into the grass and pass the bigger kid on the trike! This was after just 15 minutes or so on the Strider running bike. Kind of summed the whole Strider experience up right there before our eyes… get kids the right tool for the job, the right weight/size machine for their age and they EXCELL! By the time we left (couldn’t help but hang out for a little while and watch the kids play!), the kids were riding the Strider running bikes through the grass, through the sandbox, under the swingset, balancing on a 2×8 beam… they had been set free from the sidewalk and they were having a blast!
